The City of Flowery Branch Thursday night was awarded the Vibrant Communities Grant from the Georgia Council for the Arts totaling $5K to be used for art projects in the city.
City council members voted to accept the grant during their regularly scheduled meeting Thursday night. The FY 2024 Vibrant Communities Grant was provided by the Georgia Council for the Arts for the reported purpose of “cultivating the growth of a vibrant and thriving community through art,” according to city documents.
The grant program stands to promote economic growth and support strong connections between artists, organizations and the public throughout the region.
The proposed use of the funding will be to honor Mrs. Dinah Wayne, a Flowery Branch native who lived by the motto of “Bloom Where You Are Planted,” which will be the subject of a mural.
Wayne has had a lasting impact on Flowery Branch and played a vital role in having the historic Train Depot relocated and restored in the downtown area of the city.
The awarding of this grant follows another Vibrant Communities grant which was provided to Vision 2030 in Hall County.
