The White County Board of Commissioners broke ground Tuesday on the upcoming Yonah Preserve Recreation and Community Center.
The facility will feature a versatile two-court gym suitable for basketball and volleyball matches. The center will also include White County Parks and Recreation offices, a pavilion out front, and a splash pad.
The building will also be equipped with a backup generator and shower facilities, ensuring its readiness to serve as an emergency shelter when needed, according to a release from the county.
During the ceremony commemorating the groundbreaking, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners, Travis Turner, expressed excitement for the project.
"This project is a wonderful opportunity that will undoubtedly benefit our community for decades to come,” Turner said, “The Yonah Preserve Recreation and Community Center exemplifies our dedication to fostering a bright future for White County."
