By Caleb Hutchins Assistant News Director

A Tucker man has been arrested after a pursuit in Habersham County Thursday.

Habersham County Public Information Officer Rob Moore said the incident started around 11:15 a.m. when authorities were alerted about a Ford F350 pickup truck driving recklessly, including on the wrong side of the road, on Ga. 365. Once deputies spotted the truck, they attempted to box it in, but it drove away.

Moore said the chase ended when Habersham County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Kris Hall performed a PIT maneuver on the truck near the Tom Arrendale Interchange on Ga. 365 Northbound at Jess Kinney Road.

The driver of the truck, Uriel Silva Martinez, age 29, was arrested at the scene. The truck was also later found to have been reported stolen from Gwinnett County.

Martinez faces a list of charges, including Theft by Receiving a Stolen Vehicle, Fleeing and Attempting to Elude, Driving Under the Influence, Speeding and Failure to Maintain Lane.

It was the second stolen vehicle to be recovered in Habersham County on Thursday, with both cases leading to arrests.
