Fentanyl seized from Forsyth County home following overdose incident

Authorities in Forsyth County seized a large amount of illegal drugs, including fentanyl, after they were called to an apparent overdose incident Friday in the eastern part of the county.

According to a release from the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to the home on Flowery Branch Road for a medical emergency. Two people inside the home appeared to have overdosed and were given Narcan. The two were then taken to a local hospital.

While inside the home, deputies saw possible illegal drugs in plain sight.

Johns Creek and Forsyth County Drug Task Force members then executed a search warrant on the home. They found a large bag of white powder which tested positive for fentanyl. Loose methamphetamine and marijuana were also collected from the home. Additionally, authorities found a safe that contained 105 grams of methamphetamine, a large amount of marijuana and a 9mm handgun.

In total, 290 grams of fentanyl and about 117 grams of methamphetamine were seized during the search.

The homeowner, identified as James Hall, 65, was arrested upon his release from the hospital. The sheriff's office said Hall was a convicted felon.

He was charged with trafficking methamphetamine, trafficking fentanyl, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession or use of drug-related objects, possession of a handgun during the commission of a felony and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon. He was being held in the Forsyth County Jail without bond as of Tuesday morning.
