City of Suwanee launching new opportunity to honor service members

By Giselle Mesquital Intern

A new project will soon allow the Suwanee community to honor family members who have served in the military.

The city of Suwanee is set to open “Town Center on Main”, their newest park in the summer of 2024. The park alongside other unique features will include a veterans memorial.

The memorial, named Greater Good, will include a tranquil water feature and an entranceway lined with commemorative plaques honoring service members.

“The heart of this project lies in offering individuals a unique chance to honor and remember their cherished heroes,” said Toni Hardy, Greater Good project manager. “The plaques will be integrated into the walkway leading to the memorial, offering a touching tribute to those who have made a profound impact.”

Community members who wish to honor a family member may purchase a plaque while supplies last. Service members do not need to be residents of Suwanee to be allowed a plaque in their honor.

The stainless steel plaques are 8” x 4”, can be customized with up to four lines of text with 30 characters per line, and will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis. A limit of 300 plaques is available and may be ordered until November 30, 2023.
