The Braselton Police Department presented their officer appreciation awards Tuesday night at the Braselton Community Development Center.
Sergeant William “Steve” Kinard was announced as the 2023 Officer of the Year.
Sergeant Kinard has been employed with the Braselton Police Department since 2014.
“Sergeant Kinard earned this recognition for his high level of professionalism and dedication to the department,” Braselton Police officials said.
Officer Justin Simmons was presented with the 2023 Top Shot Award.
Officer Simmons has been employed with the Braselton Police Department since 2018.
Over his time with the department Officer Simmons has consistently placed in the top five in precision competitions.
This year Officer Simmons was the department's number-one shooter posting a score of 592.
Officer Simmons shot a perfect 300 with his pistol and 292 with his rifle.
