NORCROSS, Ga. — The Buford girls had been a perfect 7-0 on the road so far this season. That came to a shocking end on Saturday as the Class 7A No. 2-ranked Lady Wolves were taken down by Class 3A No. 3 Wesleyan, 72-58, at the Wesleyan gym.
Wesleyan (17-3) held Buford (19-2) to just 4 points in the third quarter while blowing open a close game. Wesleyan led 13-10 at the end of the first and took a 35-31 lead into halftime. But behind 16 points from Chit Chat Wright and Eva Garabadian, Wesleyan outscored Buford 24-4 in the third to push the lead to 59-35.
Buford made it respectable at the end outscoring Wesleyan 23-13 in the fourth but could get no closer.
Ava Grace Watson had 19 points to pace Buford. Izzy Rettiger added 12 points and Taylor Romano 10 for the Lady Wolves.
Wright finished with a game-high 27 points and Garabadian finished with 18 for Wesleyan. Johanna Potter added 13 for Wesleyan.
