A commercial woodworking shop in Gainesville was damaged after a fire Monday evening.
According to Gainesville Fire Chief Brandon Ellis, the fire was reported at about 6 p.m. in the 1700 block of Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard.
Arriving crews found moderate smoke conditions after forcing entry into the rear door. Crews found a small fire contained to a table in the shop area. The Fire Marshal determined a pile of oily rags left out without proper ventilation caused the fire.
No other structures were damaged.
The tenant will be displaced until repairs are made and smoke removal can be completed.
