Tractor-trailer driver cited after rear-end collision injures 3 people in Baldwin

Three people were hurt Wednesday morning when a tractor-trailer rear-ended their vehicles on Ga. 365 south of Duncan Bridge Road in Baldwin.

The Georgia State Patrol has charged 54-year-old Robert Steve Armstead of Sheffield, Ala., with following too closely after the 2005 International tractor-trailer he was driving struck the rear of a Ford pickup truck, pushing it into the back of a Mazda CX5.

The driver and passenger of the Ford pickup truck, 75-year-old Toby Allen Lindeland and 73-year-old Brenda Marie Lindeland, both of Martin, both suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center by ambulance, according to GSP.

A passenger in the Mazda, 66-year-old Ruth Coir Gibson of Franklin, N.C., was injured, but was not taken by ambulance, according to the GSP.

The driver of the Mazda, 41-year-old Joseph Andrew Gibson and another passenger, 5-year-old Sylas Rhett Gibson, both of Franklin, N.C., were not hurt, GSP reported.
