GAINESVILLE, Ga -- North Hall knocked Cherokee Bluff from the ranks of the unbeaten and got its first Region 8-4A win at the same time on Tuesday.
The Lady Trojans (3-3, 1-2 Region 8-4A) trailed early after the Lady Bears (3-1, 2-1 Region 8-4A) scored twice in the top of the first. But the North Hall offense exploded for five runs in the bottom of the first and three more in the third to run out to a 9-2 lead.
Cherokee Bluff began to cut into the lead, scoring twice in the fifth and once in the sixth to pull within 9-5. North Hall answered with two runs in the bottom of the sixth to push the lead to 11-5.
The Lady Bears got within 11-7 with a pair of runs in the seventh but Olivia Mullins was able to close out the game for the Lady Trojans pitching the final two innings for the save.
Mac Taylor went five innings for North Hall, giving up four runs on six hits and striking out two batters.
Genesis Satterfield, Ashley Callahan, and Jacey Smith all had two hits and one RBI for the Lady Trojans.
JEFFERSON 6,
EASTSIDE 2
The Lady Dragons got their first Region 8-5A win holding off the Lady Eagles on the road on Tuesday.
Maleia Truelove had a hit and two RBI in a big four-run third inning for Jefferson (5-1, 1-1 Region 8-5A) that broke a scoreless tie. Eastside (1-2, 0-2 Region 8-5A) cut the lead to 4-2 in the fifth but the Lady Dragons scored single runs in the sixth and seventh to pull away.
That was more than enough for Taylor Spivey, who earned the win giving up just two runs on four hits and fanning four in five innings. Addison Self pitched the final two innings surrendering just one hit.
Audrey Burton had two hits and an RBI for the Lady Dragons. Savannah Smith, Avery Hays, Greysin Busch, and Madison Hanchey all had one hit for Jefferson.
Jefferson next will play host to Clarke Central on Thursday in another key region matchup.
SECKINGER 2,
EAST HALL 1
East Hall could not hold a late lead as Seckinger rallied for the win on Tuesday.
The Lady Vikings (1-3) led 1-0 in the fourth after scoring a run on a passed ball. But they could not extend the lead getting a runner thrown out stealing and another erased on a double play in the seventh.
Meanwhile, Seckinger chipped away, plating a run in the sixth on a sacrifice fly and then getting the winning run in the seventh on a RBI single.
Amari Burce took the tough-luck loss for East Hall scattering six hits and striking out four in 6 2/3 innings..
Callie Dale had two hits for the Lady Vikings.
