JEFFERSON, Ga. — Jefferson moved into second place in Region 8-3A with a 6-2 win over Monroe Area on Wednesday at home.
The Lady Dragons (11-1, 3-1 Region 8-3A) scored in all but one inning. Jefferson jumped out to a quick 2-0 after the first and then added single runs in the second, fourth, fifth, and sixth innings to pull away.
Abbie Kinlaw and Sara Grace Cooper each had two hits to lead a 9-hit attack. Jenna Rapp had a double and two RBI for the Lady Dragons.
Braelynn Vandiver got the win in the circle for Jefferson, scattering four hits and two walks while allowing just two runs in 4 1/3 innings. KristiAna Truelove pitched the final 2 1/3 innings, striking out five and allowing no hits and no runs
Next up for Jefferson is West Hall at home on Thursday in another Region 8-3A game.
DAWSON COUNTY 15,
CHESTATEE 0 (3 inn)
The Lady Tigers scored 12 runs in the third inning to invoke the Mercy Rule in a Region 6-3A win at home on Wednesday.
Sadie Dotson had a home run and three RBI and Bryce Greenwood had three hits and two RBI to lead the Lady Tigers (11-4, 4-1 Region 8-3A) to the big win.
Lilly Hamilton and Carley Etta Grizzle also drove in a pair of runs each for Dawson County.
Grizzle got the win for the Lady Tigers, allowing just two hits and zero runs while striking out five.
Kathryn Williams and Savannah Petty had the two hits for Chestatee.
Dawson County next will travel to White County on Thursday. Chestatee will play host to Lumpkin County in a pair of Region 6-3A contests.
NORTH HALL 5,
UNION COUNTY 1
Despite being outhit 9-6 the Lady Trojans got a gritty performance from Hadleigh Crumley in the circle to get the non-region win on the road.
Crumley scattered nine hits and fanned four and got out of a bases-loaded jam in the fourth and stranded a pair runners in scoring position in the first.
Genesis Satterfield and Marley Weaver both had two hits and an RBI and Crumley also knocked in a run for North Hall.
The Lady Trojans next will play host to GAC in a key Region 6-3A matchup on Thursday.
