Holly Theatre in Dahlonega returns to five-show season

By Sydney Hencil Anchor/Reporter

This fall, The Holly Theatre in Dahlonega will have its first full five-show season in three years.

The theme for the theater’s program of four musicals and a favorite Shakespeare comedy is “Hope Endures and Love Conquers All."

According to a press release from The Holly Theatre, the shows, Into the Woods, She Loves Me, Spitfire Grill, Matilda and Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing, were carefully chosen for their messages of hope.

“Our first season back together again, we felt it was important to share a message of hope,” said The Holly’s Artistic Director, Stephanie Garrett.

It’s the patrons, according to The Holly Board Chair, Ivana Pelnar-Zaiko who have been the Holly’s inspiration for the past two years.

“Now we are more than ready to give back to the community through the enchantment of live theater,” said Pelnar-Zaiko in a press release.

Pelnar-Zaiko said that they are looking forward to seeing everyone on the first night of the new season, September 30.

During the COVID-required “intermission”, The Holly used the time to renovate, rebuilding the entire stage, adding elegant new curtains, improving the lighting, and adding new backdrops.

The historic beauty and relaxed atmosphere of The Holly, however, remains unchanged. With no seat more than seventy feet from the stage, The Holly offers an intimate and inviting setting for guests to relax and escape through the magic of theatre.
