By Austin Eller News Director

The Lawrenceville Police Department has asked for the public's help identifying a suspect after a bicyclist was severely injured in a July hit-and-run.

According to a release posted to the police department's Facebook page, officers responded at about 3:30 a.m. on July 28 to the incident on Scenic Highway near Jackson Street.

Officers arrived on the scene and found the bicyclist with severe injuries. The bicyclist was also unconscious. They were transported to Northside Gwinnett Hospital. The vehicle that struck the bicyclist left the scene.

Witnesses said a dark-colored vehicle was seen driving away toward East Crogan Street. Investigators believe it may be a charcoal grey Jeep. The vehicle will likely have damage to the front end, the hood and possibly the windshield.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Lt. Dale Haney with the Accident Investigation Unit at 770-670-5061, or by email at [email protected].
