Truck driver loses control, strikes tree and home in Skylake

By Dean Dyer WRWH Radio

No one was injured when a truck driver lost control of his vehicle and ran off the road striking a tree and a house on Wednesday in northern White County.

Sgt. Michael Best of Georgia State Patrol Post 6 in Gainesville said the accident occurred just after 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at 397 Woodbrier Road north of Deerpath Drive in the Skylake Subdivision.

A 1988 Freightliner flatbed operated by 48-year-old Tony Lonzo Gooch was traveling south on Woodbrier Road, negotiating a curve, and failed to maintain its lane of travel, Best said. The truck traveled off the right side of the roadway and down an embankment.

The vehicle also struck a tree with its right side while going down the embankment, then struck the corner of a house at 397 Woodbrier Road.

There were no injuries to the driver or residents of the home.
