One person was injured Friday morning after a motorcycle accident on I-85 in Banks County.
The accident happened at 8:54 a.m. on Interstate 85 northbound near mile marker 153.
The Georgia State Patrol said George S. Johnson, 74, was traveling north on I-85 in the left lane. A tractor-trailer driving in front of Johnson changed lanes into the right lane. A draft on the back side of the tractor-trailer pushed Johnson off the roadway during the lane change.
Johnson lost control of the motorcycle and crashed on the right shoulder. He came off the motorcycle, which continued to slide until it came to a rest after hitting the guardrail.
No contact was made between the motorcycle and tractor trailer.
Banks County Fire and Emergency Services responded to the accident and found the motorcycle driver in critical condition. The motorcycle driver was transported via ambulance to Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center. The Georgia State Patrol said Johnson was in stable condition.
The driver of the tractor-trailer was uninjured.
Traffic on I-85 was slowed for an hour until authorities cleared the scene at 10:30 a.m..
