Man killed in Forsyth County motorcycle accident

A man from Waleska is dead after a Tuesday morning motorcycle crash in Forsyth County. 
 
Dustin Darby, 39, was driving his Yamaha FZ-600 motorcycle eastbound on Matt Highway near McBrayer Road. He failed to navigate a curve in the road and hit a utility pole. Darby and his motorcycle came to rest in a large ditch on the eastbound side of Matt Highway.
 
The accident happened in the early morning hours between 1:48 a.m. and 3:48 a.m.. However, the Forsyth County 911 Center did not receive calls about the crash until 9:45 a.m.. The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office says that drivers could not see Darby because of his location in the ditch. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
 
According to a press release from the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, investigators believe Darby was speeding before the crash.
 
The crash is under investigation.
