CORNELIA – Drivers who routinely travel through downtown Cornelia should take note that beginning Tuesday, the railroad crossing will be closed for repairs.
A contractor for Norfolk Southern will be working on the rail crossing on South Main Street beginning July 5 and lasting for up to four days, a sign in place at the crossing reports.
City Manager Donald Anderson said he is confident local drivers will be happy the bumpy crossing is getting replaced.
Traffic will be detoured to either the railroad crossing on Rosa Parks/First Street or the underpass on Wells Street.
