Chattahoochee Riverkeeper to host annual film festival in June

By Austin Eller News Director

Chattahoochee Riverkeeper's annual Wild & Scenic Film Festival returns to downtown Gainesville on June 11 following two years of virtual celebrations.

Mallory Pendleton, headwaters outreach manager with CRK, said the event will be held at the Brenau University Charles D. Walters Theatre beginning at 6:30 p.m. The films can also be viewed online at the time time. Pendleton said they were expecting between 250 and 300 people at the in-person event.

"It's just a great way to get people together ... to just bond and enjoy films that really highlight a variety of things that happen in our world," Pendelton said. "It can be from wildlife, to environmental advocacy, to water challenges from so many different waterways."

The event also includes an online silent auction, which will run from June 11 through June 17.

All proceeds from the event go toward supporting CRK's efforts in the Headwaters region, according to Pendleton.

"I think people are just really excited that this is finally coming back this year," Pendleton said. "The fact that we are able to come back in person, be together again ... it's just going to be different, in such a great way."

Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased on CRK's website. Online viewing starts at $15 per household and includes a raffle entry to win a kayak rental for four in the Chattahoochee's headwaters and an annual membership to CRK. Premiere party tickets start at $30.
