By Austin Eller News Director

Authorities say a Gainesville woman died Saturday after she was involved in a two-vehicle accident on Jesse Jewell Parkway.

Gainesville Police Corporal Jessica Van said Agnes Dupriest, 91, was driving a Ford Edge eastbound on Jesse Jewell Parkway at about 9:21 a.m.

A Honda CR-V, driven by Dylan Cheek, 29, of Gainesville, was stopped at the traffic light on Bradford Street waiting to turn left onto Jesse Jewell Parkway westbound. Cheek attempted to make the turn once the light on Bradford Street turned green, but was struck by Dupriest in the intersection.

Dupriest allegedly was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the accident. Cpl. Van said both front seat headrests in Dupriest's vehicle were not attached prior to the incident. Dupriest was pronounced dead at an area hospital.

Cheek and his passenger suffered minor injuries but were not taken to a hospital.

Cpl. Van said the crash was still actively being investigated as of Thursday afternoon. Police were unable to release any statements on fault in the accident pending further investigation.
