The Boys & Girls Clubs of Lanier is set to open its new, 25,000-square-foot facility in March.
The original goal at the previous facility at Positive Place was to do upgrades and enhance safety measures, but the organization decided to demolish the previous facility to build the new $8.5-million Positive Place Boys & Girls Club.
On March 13, the Positive Place Boys & Girls Club will host its grand reopening at 4 p.m. for special guests and local leaders to experience the new facility.
The previous club served the children of Hall County for over 50 years, with Boys & Girls Clubs of Lanier CEO Steve Mickens saying that the goal is to serve more kids.
“With more than 20,500 kids leaving school every day with no safe place to go in the Lanier area, it is our goal to serve more kids, more often, making a greater impact. To do that, we needed a new facility,” Micken said.
The building will include a dedicated space for middle school teens to work towards a clear plan for their futures.
