FAIRBURN — The Lakeview girls could not pull off a second straight upset in the Class A Private state playoffs on Friday.
The Lady Lions fell 82-47 to Region 2-A Private champion Landmark Christian on the road.
However, Lakeview (14-14) stormed out in the first quarter looking like they were ready to take down another higher-seeded team. The Lady Lions jumped out to a 14-7 lead after the first quarter.
But the Lady War Eagles (22-8) got going in the second quarter. They outscore Lakeview 30-9 in the second to take 37-23 halftime lead. They continued the offensive onslaught using a 22-13 third quarter to blow the game open for a 59-36 advantage.
Freshman Dynesty Putman scored 17 points and grabbed 4 rebounds to lead Lakeview. Senior Joelle Snyder, in her final game for the Lady Lions, finished with 15 points.
Sara Nivens had 8 points and 7 rebounds, Sidney Corbin added 6 points, and Ashlyn Henderson pulled down 6 rebounds for Lakeview.
