GAINESVILLE — The Gainesville basketball programs will be under new direction when the 2022-23 season commences next fall.

In a press release on Friday, Gainesville High School Athletic Director Adam Lindsey announced that both boys head coach Chuck Graham and girls head coach Alan Griffin will not returning next season.

“We have a standard of excellence at Gainesville and our goal has been, and will always be, to build on that legacy,” Lindsey said.

Neither team made the playoffs this season and were eliminated in the first round of the Region 6-7A Tournament last week.

Graham was named head coach of the boys program in 2018 after serving under Benji Wood as assistant coach since 2013. He posted a 56-51 overall record in his four years, including just a 5-18 mark this season.

Griffin also was named head coach of the girls in 2018 after coming over from White County High School as athletic director. His led the Lady Red Elephants to 42-60 overall record,  going just 8-16 this season.

Lindsey said the search to fill the vacancies will begin immediately.
