Girls basketball: Chestatee routs Forsyth Central; Hab knocks off Lakeview; Buford wins; White Co. falls

GAINESVILLE, Ga. — Addison Boyd scored 13 points to lead the Chestatee girls past Forsyth Central, 64-19, at home on Tuesday.

Boyd was one of three Lady War Eagles (8-3, 3-1) in double figures.

Sierra Yarbrough and Riley Black added 11 points each, and Caroline Bull chipped in 8.

Chestatee will play Lakeview in the first round of the Lanierland Tournament at Cherokee Bluff on Dec. 28.


HABERSHAM CENTRAL 48,
LAKEVIEW ACADEMY 26

Habersham Central jumped out to a 27-7 lead at halftime to cruise to the win over Lakeview Academy on Tuesday.

Sidney Corbin led the Lady Lions with 12 points, Taliah Gaither had 6 points and 11 rebounds, and Dynesty Putman with 6 points. 

Lakeview (4-7) travels to Rabun County on Wednesday. 


ELIZABETHTON (Tenn.) 63,
WHITE COUNTY 49

The Lady Warriors' 12-game win streak ended in the semifinals of the Hilton Head Island Seahawk Holiday Classic on Tuesday.

A usually solid 3-point shooting White County team was ice-cold from beyond the arc against the Lady Fighting Cyclones. After Maci Shelnut trailed a 3-pointer in the first quarter, the Lady Warriors (12-2) would not connect again.

After a nip-and-tuck first quarter, Elizabethton (9-2) used a 21-11 run in the second quarter to pull away for a 35-23 halftime lead.

The Lady Fighting Cyclones increased their lead to 47-34 at the end of the third quarter, and White County could never catch up.

Naomi Roberts paced White County with 14 points. Claire Beckman added 12, and Shelnut finished with 10 points.

Marlee Mathena paced Elizabethton with 14 points. Lina Lyon had 13 points, Reiley Whitson 11 points, and Olivia Holly 10 points for the Lady Fighting Cyclones.


BUFORD 72,
EAST FORSYTH 42

The Lady Wolves (9-0) jumped out to a 26-12 in the first quarter and never looked back in the blowout win over East Forsyth at the Buford Arena on Tuesday.

Buford led 69-33 after the third quarter. 

Lydia Ledford led the Lady Wolves with 17 points, while Betty Nguyen had 13, and Ava Grace Watson with 12.

Addie Rouse led the Lady Broncos (5-6) with 17 points. Ella Holbrook had 11. 

Buford will play North Forsyth at Walnut Grove on Wednesday. East Forsyth is off.
