The White County Department of Elections and Registration hosted on Tuesday an Election Worker Appreciation Dinner in partnership with the White County Board of Commissioners.
The event was hosted at the White County Senior Center, and in attendance was the Board of Commissioners, Board of Elections and Registration, Elections Staff, Poll Workers and Precinct Representatives.
“We want to take time to thank all of our Elections Workers for your hard work in the 2022 Elections,” Chairman of the White County Board of Commissioners, Travis Turner said at the event. “Through all the changes in Elections over recent years, White County Elections have stayed tried and true. That is a testament to your hard work and dedication to the citizens of White County.”
Chairman Turner also proclaimed that the Board of Commissioners will recognize Dec. 13, 2022, as White County Election Worker Appreciation Day.
Carol Smith, who has served White County Elections since 2012, was also recognized at the dinner in commemoration of her retirement this year by Supervisor of the Department of Elections Jodi Davis.
“There is nobody that represents Elections like Carol Smith,” Davis stated. “Carol, we thank you for all your hard work for our Elections Office … I am proud of the reputation of White County Elections and this is due to the professionalism and integrity displayed by our Election Workers.”
Each Election Worker was also presented with a certificate of appreciation, which was followed by honoring representatives from each polling location in the county.
Those invited to the event were asked to donate items that cannot be purchased with food stamps in support of the White County Food Pantry. The donated goods were donated in honor of Carol Smith as the Elections Department’s annual community outreach project.
