Most region schedules around the Northeast Georgia area are already under way as we head toward the Christmas break.
Some early surprises are the West Hall boys sitting atop Region 7-3A while defending Class 3A girls state champion Lumpkin County does not. The 7-3A girls is already showing it will be a dogfight as Wesleyan knocked off the Lady Indians last week. But White County then beat Wesleyan. However, Dawson County is in first place in the early going.
In Region 8-4A, the Cherokee Buff girls and Chestatee boys are atop the standings after the first week and a half.
In Region 8-5A, the Flowery Branch boys are still undefeated overall while the Lady Falcons have won six straight and both opened region play with a win last week.
