GAINESVILLE — The Cherokee Bluff girls continued their torrid start to the season with a 50-45 road win over East Forsyth on Tuesday in Region 8-4A action.
It was the sixth straight win for the Lady Bears (6-1, 2-0 Region 8-4A), who lead their half of the subregion by one-half game in the early going.
The Lady Broncos (4-4, 1-1 Region 8-4A) jumped out to an 11-8 lead early, but Bluff used a 10-7 second quarter to tie the game at 18 by halftime. The game was deadlocked at 30 going into the fourth quarter before the Lady Bears outscored East Forsyth 20-15 in the final eight minutes to get the win.
Mia Williams and Kaitlin Cook both had monster games, recording double-doubles. Williams finished with 15 points and 14 rebounds and added a pair of blocks as well. Cook had 10 points and 10 rebounds and dished out 4 assists.
Emma Reynolds added 9 points and 6 rebounds, and Claire Carlson had 6 points, 5 assists, and 5 blocks for Cherokee Bluff.
East Forsyth fell to 4-3 overall and 1-1 in Region 8-4A play with the loss.
CHESTATEE 74,

The Class 4A ninth-ranked Lady War Eagles opened their Region 8-4A schedule with a dominating win on the road Tuesday.
Chestatee (4-2, 1-0 Region 8-4A) jumped out to a 22-5 lead after the first quarter and never looked back. The Lady War Eagles led 41-9 at the half and took a 62-11 lead into the fourth quarter.
Chestatee was paced by 24 points from Riley Black. Addison Boyd had 11, Caroline Bull and Payton Cable each added 8 points, and Charlee Mize chipped in 7 for the Lady War Eagles.
Johnson (0-4, 0-2 Region 8-4A) was led by Marijane See with 10 points.
FLOWERY BRANCH 63,
JACKSON COUNTY 41
The Lady Falcons also continued their hot, rallying to win their fifth straight game on the road.
Branch (5-2) trailed the Lady Panthers 17-12 after the first quarter. But the Lady Falcons used a 16-6 second quarter to grab the lead and pulled away in the second half.
Branch outscored Jackson County (2-6) 35-18 over the final two quarters.
Bella Brick also continued her hot shooting, draining 8 3-pointers as part of her game-high 30 points to lead Branch. Amyia Scott added 13 points, and Brannen Shiloh had 8 for the Lady Falcons.
The Lady Falcons will open their Region 8-5A schedule at home on Friday against Clarke Central.

The Lady Wildcats remained perfect on the season after taking an out-of-state win on the road Tuesday.
Rabun County (4-0) got balanced scoring. Ellie Southards poured in 16 points to go with 5 rebounds and 6 steals to lead the way. Lucy Hood added 14 points, 4 assists, and 4 steals for the Lady Wildcats.
Mili Watts had 11 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 steals, and Mary Lovell had 8 points, 8 rebounds and 3 steals.
LAKEVIEW ACADEMY 74,
FELLOWSHIP CHRISTIAN 56
The Lady Lions snapped a three-game losing streak and also got back star player Dynesty Putnam at the same time on Tuesday at home.
Putnam, who had been out due to an injury, scored 12 points in her season debut.
Meanwhile, sophomore Taliah Gaither poured 25 points and pulled down 14 rebounds to pace Lakeview (2-5). Sidney Corbin also had a solid outing with 20 points and 6 rebounds.
Jia Thapar had 7 points, while Kivana Bogne came off the bench to chip in 6 points and grabbed 8 rebounds for the Lady Lions.
Lakeview Academy will next travel to Habersham Central on Friday.
LANIER CHRISTIAN ACADEMY 33,
WHITE CREEK CHRISTIAN ACADEMY 21
Lanier Christian won its fourth straight game with a 33-21 win over White Creek Christian Academy on Tuesday at home.
The Lady Lightning (4-3) got a huge game from Camille Hoffmann, who poured in 18 points and pulled down 18 rebounds to lead the way. Ellie Roberts had 8 points and 6 rebounds for LCA. Adelyn Gough added 7 points and 5 rebounds.
LCA will be back in action on Thursday, traveling to Horizon Christian.
BUFORD 73,
JEFFERSON 31
Ava Grace Watson scored 22 points, and Taylor Romano had 20 to lead the Lady Wolves past Jefferson at The Arena in Jefferson on Tuesday.
The Lady Wolves led 60-14 at halftime.
Buford (6-0) will play host to Rabun Gap on Tuesday. Jefferson (1-5) will travel to Mill Creek on Friday.
