Gwinnett Police providing residents with mapping info on criminal activity

By Caleb Hutchins Assistant News Director

The Gwinnett County Police Department is recommending a website to residents who want to stay aware of criminal activity in their area.

In a release, the department pointed to the website CrimeMapping.com, which it says will allow residents to keep track of recent police reports in a given area.

Gwinnett County Police Chief J.D. McClure said he hopes the information will residents stay safe and help law enforcement watch out for potential future crime.

“We believe in empowering residents to take extra steps to keep their communities safe and be on the lookout for criminal activity going on around them," McClure said.

On the site, residents can search for their area and view recent criminal activity as well as set up alerts for when new police reports in an area are filed.

“Easy access to this information helps our residents understand crime trends that may impact the places they live, work and play," McClure said.
