Gainesville man arrested for exploitation of elderly Hall County woman

A Gainesville man was arrested Monday for a list of alleged crimes, including charges related to the exploitation of an elderly Hall County woman.

According to B.J. Williams, public information officer with the Hall County Sheriff's Office, Dillion Ross Stowers, 28, was arrested at his home in the 4800 block of Highway 52.

Investigators went to the home as part of an investigation into the theft of more than $50,000 from the 82-year-old victim. They found Stowers hiding in a closet at the home. 

35 weapons, including one with an altered serial number, 9.5 lbs of processed marijuana, several THC vape cartridges and a small quantity of Schedule IV drugs were also found during the search. The marijuana was valued at about $45,000.

Williams said Stowers was previously convicted of a burglary in Hall County in 2015.

Stowers faces the following charges:

  • Exploitation of an elderly person
  • 35 counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
  • Criminal use of an article with an altered ID mark
  • Possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime
  • Felony possession of marijuana
  • Possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute
  • Possession of THC oil with the intent to distribute
  • Possession of Schedule IV drugs

Stowers remained in the Hall County Jail without bond as of Wednesday morning.
