The Hall County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) provided more details on Friday regarding the altercation between two football players at East Hall High School.
Both students are facing charges after the incident that occurred on Wednesday.
According to officials, the incident occurred between a 14 and 16-year-old student who were in the locker room after practice. A preliminary investigation shows that the 16-year-old student approached the 14-year-old student and picked him up by his shoulder pads, slamming him into the locker.
The 14-year-old reportedly stabbed the other student with a pair of scissors. The 16-year-old suffered a stab wound to his leg as well as superficial lacerations to other parts of his body.
The 14-year-old is in custody at the Gainesville Regional Youth Detention Center (RYDC) and has been charged with aggravated assault and affray while the 16-year-old was charged with simple battery and affray.
Following medical treatment for his injuries, the 16-year-old was released to the custody of his parents.
The investigation remains ongoing.

Hall County Schools Athletics is reporting an altercation between two East Hall High School football players after practice on Wednesday.
According to a statement from Hall County Schools Athletics and Communications Director Stan Lewis, one of the players grabbed a pair of scissors, resulting in non-life threatening injuries to the other player.
Law enforcement and emergency medical personnel were contacted right away.
The student who used the scissors is reportedly in custody.
Lewis also added that the currently unnamed player will face disciplinary consequences in line with the district’s student code of conduct.
“Violence toward any student or staff member is unacceptable, and will be dealt with accordingly by the Hall County School District,” Lewis said in his statement.
The incident is under investigation by the Hall County Sheriff’s Office.
