Football: Region 8-6A title game; huge region showdowns headline Week 11 radio lineup

By Bo Wilson Sports Editor

Cue the tiebreakers! Yes, there are a million different scenarios in which teams can make it to the playoffs or be eliminated heading into Week 11. OK, maybe not a million, but you can check out those scenarios HERE.

Before you click the above link to figure out who is in, out, or on the brink, we've got three huge region showdowns on the Jacobs Media airwaves this week.

FIVE THINGS WE LEARNED FROM WEEK 10

WEEK 10 REVIEW

North Forsyth at Gainesville (8 p.m.) -- Believe it or not, Gainesville has only one win in the eight-year series. This series has a rivalry feel to it. The two have played each other for the last five years, with two of them in the old Region 6-7A. We circled this game before the season started as the Region 8-6A title game and were right. The Red Elephants have proven they can score, and their defense is underrated. North Forsyth has struggled offensively and has been able to pull out close ones against opponents Gainesville has handled relatively easily. But this one is always interesting and a battle. Who wins it? Gainesville might have the upper hand. You can listen to the game on WDUN AM 550 (Click to listen live)

East Forsyth at Chestatee -- Chestatee can play playoff spoiler on Friday. Since the loss to Madison County last week, the Broncos really need to win out to feel good about securing their first playoff appearance. Chestatee, however, has put some points up over the last two games, taking Cedar Shoals down to the wire in a 46-39 loss last week at home. The War Eagles have improved and been close a few times throughout the season. East Forsyth, on the other, has to eliminate the untimely penalties and convert inside the red zone. This one could be a nailbiter in Sardis. You can hear the game on FM 102.9 WDUN (Click to listen live)

Cedar Shoals at North Hall  -- If North Hall wants to stay in the playoff hunt, they MUST win on Friday. Cedar Shoals leads the all-time series 4-0, but that really means nothing. The two are fighting for their playoff lives. The Trojans will have problems with the Jaguars' offense, ranked fourth in Class 4A, scoring 35.1 points per game. The Trojans can play defense but are shaky at times, giving up 27 ppg. It'll come down to who wants it more in this one, but what we do know is North Hall will need to make plays to win this one. The game can be heard live on FM 94.5 The Lake (Click to listen live).
