The 2021 Georgia High School Association volleyball campaign was a stellar one for Northeast Georgia area teams.
Buford captured the Class 6A state title, Flowery Branch finished as state runners-up in Class 4A, and North Forsyth (7A), Cherokee Bluff (3A), and Union County (2A) all made the semifinals in their respective classifications. Jefferson and Chestatee both made the Elite 8 in Class 4A.
Reclassification, however, caused most of those teams to move up. But that didn’t stop area teams from making a run to the playoffs in 2022 as five teams won their Area titles.
Buford won Area 8-7A; Jackson County won Area 8-6A; Jefferson captured the Area 8-5A title; Bluff won Area 8-4A; and White County took the Area 7-3A crown. All five will have home court advantage in the first round of the GHSA playoffs, which begin on Tuesday
In all, 14 Northeast Georgia-area teams advanced to the state playoffs across all seven GHSA classifications.
Classes 7A, 5A, 3A, and A all will get underway on Tuesday. Classes 6A, 4A, and 2A will begin on Wednesday.
