Just over 19,000 people in Northeast Georgia were still without power early Monday morning in the aftermath of Winter Storm Izzy.
The county with the most outages in the area is Habersham, with Georgia Power and Habersham EMC reporting a combined total of over 5,000 customers without power. There are over 3,000 customers without power each in White and Rabun counties with over 2,000 customers out each in Hall and Banks counties.
More than half of outages reported during and after the storm in the area have been restored as power crews have been working around the clock. At one point, more than 60,000 houses across Northeast Georgia were without power.
"There are still several locations throughout (Hall) County where personnel were not able to remove trees across the roadways due to power lines still being involved," Hall County Emergency Management Director Casey Ramsey said Monday morning. "This is limited and expected to improve quickly throughout the morning as power crews continue to make progress."
Izzy left snow totals of up to five inches in some parts of the area and Hall County Emergency Management Director Casey Ramsey said some parts of the county received a couple of tenths of an inch of ice as well.
