CLEVELAND, Ga. — Gainesville's Chad Bennett has been hired to take over the White County football program.

The White County Board of Education approved his hiring on Friday morning. Bennett follows Tim Cokely, who resigned at the end of the 2021 season.

The Gainesville High grad spent four years as White County's offensive coordinator and spent last season leading Gainesville's offense under former coach Heath Webb.

Bennett has coached at five schools around Northeast Georgia. He was at Flowery Branch in 2008. In 2012, he left for Rabun County where he spent the next four seasons until he left for his second stint at Flowery Branch. In 2017, Bennett was hired to retool the Warriors' offense. He constructed Class 3A's third highest-scoring offense and had some of the most potent offenses in White County history.

Bennett inherits a White County program that had its struggles in 2021, only averaging 23 points per game. The Warriors finished the season 4-7 overall and 3-3 in Region 7-3A play with a first-round playoff loss to Cedar Grove, 79-0.
