Overnight winds down trees, cause power disruptions in Hall County

By AccessWDUN Staff

Strong winds and rain downed several trees and left some Hall County residents without power Sunday night and into Monday morning.

Christie Grice, public information officer with Hall County Fire Rescue, said the county experienced overnight sustained winds around 20 to 25 miles per hour, with wind gusts up to 45 miles per hour.

Multiple trees were downed as a result of the winds, the majority of which were in northeast Hall County.

Grice said about 1,200 homes were without power at 6 a.m. Monday. That number was down to just 75 as of 1 p.m. Monday.

One person and their dog were displaced after a tree fell on a home on Durman Road. Grice said the Red Cross is assisting the victim of the storm damage.

The storm and winds also led to an overnight rescue at Aqualand Marina

No injuries were reported in the aftermath of the storm.
