Cornelia restaurant fire ruled act of arson

State investigators have ruled a fire that happened Monday evening at a LongHorn Steakhouse restaurant in Cornelia an act of arson.

According to a press release from the Office of Commissioner of Insurance and Safety Fire, local authorities first learned about the fire just before 6:45 p.m. It was allegedly set in the men's restroom of the restaurant located on Carpenter's Cove Lane. 

The Cornelia Fire Department and a restaurant patron were able to extinguish the fire. 

The release states the damage was contained to a towel rack and wall inside the restroom. No suspects have been identified in the case.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Fire Investigations Unit at 1-800-282-5804. A reward of up to $10,000 is offered by Georgia Arson Control for information leading to an arrest and conviction of those responsible for arson.
