A proposed development that would bring more than 300 residential units to a tract of land of Mulberry Street in Flowery Branch was tabled by the city council Thursday.
The decision came at the request of the applicant, Bill Stark, who said he wanted to wait until the results of an ongoing traffic study were completed. The first reading for the rezoning request will now be held at the Flowery Branch City Council's May 20 meeting.
Both the developers and city staff say they're looking for the best ways to construct the entrances and exits of the development to reduce impact on the nearby Phil Niekro Boulevard.
"I think that they estimate about three weeks, three and a half weeks (until the completion of the traffic study,)" Flowery Branch City Planning Director Rich Atkinson said. "They'll look at it kind of wholistically on Mulberry and all the surrounding area, so it's not limited to just Phil Niekro."
No one spoke on the project in the public comment portion of Thursday's meeting. The council approved the tabling unanimously.
