Fire crews respond to Hall County jail due to smoke from HVAC unit

Crews with Hall County Fire Services and the Gainesville Fire Department responded to the Hall County Detention Center Sunday morning over a smoking HVAC unit.

According to a release from Hall County Fire Services Division Chief Zach Brackett, Hall County Fire responded to a report of smoke at the detention center in the 1700 block of Barber Road just before 9 a.m.

Units found smoke inside the detention center that was later determined to be from an HVAC unit. 

As of 10 a.m., crews were still on the scene removing smoke from the affected area of the facility. No injures were reported, according to Brackett.
