Boys basketball: Jefferson powers past Elbert; Branch beats Lumpkin, GHS falls to SWAC

JEFFERSON, Ga. — Jefferson pushed its win streak to three with a 69-51 victory over Elbert County on Monday.

The Dragons (10-1) were led by Dalen Gales with 24 points. JT Fulkrod added 22 for Jefferson.

Jefferson is off until next Monday when they will take on Greer (S.C.) in the McDonald's Shootout Tournament in Hartwell.

GAINESVILLE 50

The Red Elephants dropped their seventh straight game in a tournament game at Providence Christian.

Gainesville (2-8) led 16-11 after the first quarter but Southwest Atlanta Christian rallied to tie the game at 27 by halftime. The third quarter was the difference.

The Warriors (6-4) outscored Gainesville 18-14 in the third period for a 45-41 lead. The Red Elephants could not catch up.

Charlie Reisman and Octavion Demory had 14 points each to lead Gainesville. Julius Jackon added 12 points for the Red Elephants.

Josh Fulmore had a game-high 23 points to lead SWAC. Hassan D’Allo had 11 points for the Warriors.

LUMPKIN COUNTY 44

The Falcons (8-4) outscored the Indians 14-2 in the opening period to pace the win on Monday at home. 

Lumpkin County (3-8), despite a 28-point performance from Jones Harris, couldn't find enough offense to rally ahead. 

Meanwhile, Flowery Branch's Tyleek Worth was tough to handle scoring 21 of his 25 points in the second half. 

Jeremiah Ware added 13 points, and Jackson Owens had 11 for the Falcons. Preston Cox chipped in seven points for the Indians.
