Boys basketball: Branch gets first region win since 2019; North Hall, Lakeview, Jefferson all win

GAINESVILLE — Flowery Branch outscored Chestatee 29-24 in the fourth quarter en route to a 75-50 win over the War Eagles on the road Friday. 

It was the Falcons' first region win since the 2018-19 season when they beat West Hall. 

The Falcons (7-2, 1-0 Region 8-4A) led at half 31-26, but the War Eagles (4-3, 0-1 Region 8-4A) rallied in the third quarter to tie the game, 46-46. Flowery Branch's Jack Burney and Jackson Owens scored 10 points each in the final frame to power the Falcons to their fifth straight win. 

Owens led the Falcons with 23 points. Tyleek Worth and Burney scored 17 points each. Colton Wilbanks scored 31 points to lead the War Eagles. Peyton Phillips and Cade Williams had 11 points each, while Josh Bull hit for 10. 


NORTH HALL 96,
WEST HALL 49

North Hall pushed the season win streak to five with a 96-49 blowout win over West Hall on the road Friday.

The Trojans (7-1, 2-0 Region 7-3A) jumped out to a 33-8 first-quarter lead and were on cruise control by the end of the third quarter with a 79-43 advantage. 

Andrew Bales scored a game-high 22 points to lead a quintet of Trojans in double figures. Robert Terry and Elijah Gaddy hit for 15 each, while Alexander Simonton and Luke Sanders finished with 11 points. 

Andrew Malin led the Spartans (2-5, 0-2 Region 7-3A) with 14 points, Owen Jenkins had 13 and Calvin Norman chipped in 10 points. 


LAKEVIEW 54,
RIVERSIDE 23

Harrison Cooper scored 20 points and Isaiah Rico had 16 points to lead the Lions past Riverside Military Academy (0-5) at home on Friday. 

Lakeview (5-2, 2-0 Region 6-A Private) was in control after the first quarter, 30-13, and extended the lead to 31 points, 54-23, to cruise to the win.

Jack Collins chipped in 12 points in the win. 


JEFFERSON 71, 
MADISON COUNTY 54

Dalen Gailes, Kadin Bailey and JT Fulkrod combined for 43 points to lead the Dragons (7-0, 1-0 Region 8-4A) past Madison County on Friday.

Gales led the team with 18 points, while Bailey added 15, and Fulkrod had 10. 


CLARKE CENTRAL 71,
JOHNSON 23

Jaiden Riley scored 11 points in the Knights' (0-6, 0-1 Region 8-5A) loss to Clarke Central on the road Friday.

The Gladiators were up 37-10 at the half. 

Copeland Grantham led Clarke Central with 13 points.
