Girls basketball: Gainesville, Rabun Co., Chestatee win big; Jefferson heads to title game; White Co. falls to Habersham

GAINESVILLE — Caloni Young and Kendra Young combined for 20 points to lead Gainesville to a 55-30 win over Chapel Hill in the Mickey Long Memorial Classic at the Gainesville gym on Monday.

Caloni led the Lady Red Elephants with 20 points, while Kendra scored 13. The two were part of the three Gainesville players in double-digit scoring. Amyah Topps added 12 points. 
Gainesville opened the game on a 15-5 run and extended the lead to 24-14 by halftime. In the second half, Big Red outscored Chapel Hill, 31-16. 

Gainesville (3-1) will play host to Arabia Mountain as part of the Mickey Long Memorial Classic at Gainesville on Tuesday. 


RABUN COUNTY 74,
LAKEVIEW 41

The Lady Wildcats' offensive production was tough to beat on Monday in the Piedmont Classic in Demorest. Rabun County had five players score 10 points or more in the blowout win over Lakeview Academy.

Sophie Woodard led the way with 15 points and seven steals, while Lucy Hood and SK Roberson netted 12 each. Gracie Deetz hit for 11 points and eight boards, and Carley Haban turned in 10 points and five steals.

The Lady Wildcats were well in control by halftime, leading the Lady Lions, 52-17.

Joelle Snyder led the Lady Lions with 18 points, and Ashlyn Henderson had 14, 10 rebounds and six blocks. 


JEFFERSON 57,
ST. PIUS X 47

Natalia Bolden scored 18 points, and Ellie Kinlaw had 16 to help the No. 4-ranked (Class 4A) Lady Dragons past the sixth-ranked (Class 5A) Lady Golden Lions on Monday in the Jackson EMC Tip-off tournament a The Arena in Jefferson.

Deshona Gaither added 12 points and six boards, and Jyesha Butts had 10 points and four rebounds. 


HABERSHAM CENTRAL  41,
WHITE COUNTY 31

The Lady Warriors rally fell short in the loss to Habersham Central in the Piedmont Classic in Demorest on Monday.

Chesnee Freeman led White County with seven points.


CHESTATEE 60, 
NEW FAITH 32

Riley Blacked scored 18 points to help the Lady War Eagles (3-0) past New Faith Christian in the Mickey Long Classic at Gainesville on Monday. 

Bowen Corley and Addison Boyd added 10 each, and Riley Allison had 8.
