TALLULAH FALLS, Ga. (AP) Authorities are investigating after a man was found dead at the bottom of Tallulah Gorge in the northeast Georgia mountains.

The body of William Lang Pottle, 39, of Brookhaven was found in the gorge Friday night, the Georgia Department of Natural Resources said.

He was found about 150 feet from the top of an overlook, according to DNR spokesman Mark McKinnon. Searchers began looking for him after they received a report of a missing hiker. His car was located in the parking lot of the park's Interpretative Center, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

McKinnon did not say how Pottle got to the bottom of the gorge, and said the investigation is still active. His body was sent to the Rabun County Coroner's Office for autopsy.
