Two people were killed and three others were taken to the hospital following a Friday night crash on Georgia 365 in Habersham County.
Troopers from Georgia State Patrol Post 7 in Toccoa were called to the scene of the accident just after 7 p.m., according to a statement from Assistant Post Commander Sgt. Luke Mize.
Mize said the accident happened at the intersection of Ga. 365 and Mt. Zion Road as the driver of a Toyota Matrix tried to cross the highway. The driver, identified as Denise Wade, 26, of Alto failed to yield and pulled into the path of a southbound E-150 van.
Wade, an adult passenger and an infant were all taken to the hospital. Their conditions were unknown at last report.
Mize said a 5-year-old boy - whose name was not released - and an adult passenger, Cynthenia Wade, 29, of Alto were killed.
The two occupants of the van complained of minor injuries but were not transported to the hospital.
Mize said the accident remains under investigation and charges are pending against the at-fault driver.
