Boys basketball: Lumpkin holds on to beat Branch; Chestatee, Habersham lose

DAHLONEGA — Gus Faulkner scored 22 points to lead Lumpkin County past Flowery Branch, 60-51, in a non-region game to end a two-game skid on Friday at Lynn Cottrell Court. 

Tyleek Worth scored 15 points to pace the Falcons. 

The Indians used two quarters to beat the Falcons, a 19-15 first and 15-10 third quarter. The two teams scored the same in the second and fourth quarters, 7 and 19 points. 

Allison added 11 points and Harris and Pulley had 10 points each for the Indians. The Falcons' Trey Shaw and Jacob Dixon scored 12 points each.


CEDAR SHOALS 81,
CHESTATEE 73

Peyton Phillips hit seven 3-pointers to score a game-high 24 points in the loss to No. 7 Cedar Shoals on the road Friday.

Phillips was one of three players in double figures in a game that was back and forth. Ethan Popham scored 20 points and pulled 9 rebounds. Hugh Pruitt nailed four 3-pointers en route to 16 points, Joshua Bull dished out 10 assists.  

The War Eagles kept it close all night, trailing 41-31 at the half, and outpaced the Bulldogs in the third quarter to close within five points, 55-50. 


WINDER-BARROW 61, 
HABERSHAM CENTRAL 55 

The Raiders dropped a close one on the road at Winder-Barrow on Friday.

Malachi Dooley led the Raiders with 23 points, Bryce Pittman had 13 and Clay Perry added 11 points. 


COMMERCE 78,
GREENE COUNTY 67

Sophomore Cayden Lord had a career night in the win over Greene County on Friday.

Lord poured in a career-high 32 points, while Shaquario Sherrod added 12 points.
