Hall County authorities have arrested a man months after they began investigating a child molestation case.
Melchor Sanic-Tum, 24, of Gainesville, was arrested Saturday in the case. According to Hall County Sheriff's spokesman Derreck Booth, the case began with a referral from the Georgia Division of Family and Children Services, or DFCS, on May 8, 2020.
Booth said the initial investigation showed that Sanic-Tum molested the female victim, who was under the age of 16, between August 1 and August 10, 2019 at Sanic-Tum's residence in the 1200 block of Atlanta Highway.
Sanic-Tum was taken into custody Saturday at his residence and, according to Booth, remained in the Hall County Jail as of Monday. He faces on count of aggravated child molestation.
