A 63-year old man was killed in a pedestrian accident Tuesday night in Lawrenceville, according to a report from the Gwinnett County Police Department.
Based on the preliminary investigation, investigating officers determined Douglas Johnson of Lawrenceville was trying to cross Grayson Highway in the area of Maranatha Trail. They said Johnson was outside of the designated crosswalk, and they also believe he was under the influence of alcohol at the time.
The driver who struck Johnson remained on scene and cooperated with investigators.
Johnson died at the scene.
The fatal accident happened around 9:45 p.m.
