Hall County jailer resigns prior to improper sexual contact arrest

A former Hall County Jailer was arrested Friday after authorities determined he had improper sexual contact with a female inmate.

David Rivera was charged with improper sexual contact by an employee or agent and violation of oath of officer. Prior to his arrest Friday, the Sheriff's Office said he resigned in lieu of termination on August 19.

The Sheriff's Office decline to release additional information outside of a press release and a statement from Sheriff Gerald Couch.

“Actions of this type cannot and will not be tolerated nor will I hesitate to request a criminal investigation by the GBI into such matters. Most of our employees do a tremendous job under often difficult conditions. In this case the tenacity of the Jail supervisory staff helped resolve this matter very quickly.”

The Georgia Bureau of Investigations is taking the case. AccessWDUN has reached out to the GBI for further comment.
