BUFORD — Buford overcame an early deficit to stay unbeaten in Region 8-6A action Monday in an 8-5 win over Winder-Barrow at the Buford Softball Complex.
The Lady Wolves (5-2, 2-0 Region 8-6A) scored five fourth inning runs to erase a 5-3 Lady Bulldoggs advantage.
The Buford offense pounded out nine hits, including three from junior Taylor Malvin, who also had one RBI and scored twice. Sophomore Chloe Hatcher belted a two-run home run while sophomore Emma Castorri had two hits and freshman Madison Pickens added a hit and two RBI for the Lady Wolves.
While the offense was doing its damage, freshman Emma Grace Williams overcame a pair of costly errors to get the complete-game win. Williams scattered six hits and struck out seven while walking just one to improve to 3-0.
After Buford scored three runs in the opening frame, highlighted by Hatcher's first-ever varsity homer, Winder-Barrow came roaring back with five runs in the second due to a costly two-out error that allowed the inning to continue. The Bulldogs took advantage of the extended inning, scoring all five of their runs on a walk and three consecutive base-hits.
Buford will get right back into on Tuesday in another Region 8-6A battle against Lanier in Sugar Hill.

EAST HALL 2
The Lady Panthers rallied for a road victory Monday at East Hall Park.
East Hall scored a run in the first but Union County anwered with three in the second. The Lady Vikings pulled wihin 3-2 in the thid but Union County extended its lead with two runs in the fourth.
Gracie Ausborn and Callie Dale each had two hits for East Hall. Calli Hardison took the loss for East Hall despite allowing just five hits and fanning eight in a complete-game effort.
Trinity Queen earned the win for Union County scattering six hits while striking out nine in going the distance.
