HOSCHTON — Buford's three-game win streak was snapped Wednesday dropping a tough 5-4 decision to South Forsyth in the Hawk Invitational Tournament at Mill Creek High School.
After a back-and-forth affair early the Lady Wolves took a 4-2 lead into the bottom of the fifth. But the Lady War Eagles scored once in the fifth and got a two RBI walk-off double in the bottom of the sixth inning as the tournament time limits expired.
Sophomore Chloe Hatcher started for Buford and pitched into the fifth inning giving up two runs on five hits. Senior Riley Reese (0-1) took the loss surrendering three runs on four hits in just over an inning of work.
Senior Emmaline Williams had two hits and one RBI and freshman Mackenzie Pickens had a hit, one RBI and scored twice for Buford. Junior Taylor Malvin had a hit and one RBI for the Lady Wolves.
Buford (3-2, 1-0 in Region 8-6A) will be back in action on Thursday at home against Winder-Barrow in a Region 8-6A contest. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
