GAINESVILLE — In a tri-match with North Hall and Banks County on Thursday, the Gainesville girls volleyball team improved to 3-1 with a sweep of North Hall and Banks County.
The Lady Red Elephants held off the Lady Trojans 25-19, 28-26 and then completed the sweep with a 25-8, 25-16 win over the Lady Leopards.
For the two matches, Gainesville was led by Isabella Garrish with 33 assists, 4 aces, and 3 kills. Ansley Turner added 7 kills, 2 aces, and 4 digs, Kendal Glasper had 8 kills and a block, and Lauren Teasley contributed 7 kills and a block. Lauren Ware added 4 aces, 11 kills, and 3 digs, Margaret Embry added 9 digs and an ace, Abbey Council had 2 aces and 2 digs and Kerrigan Gruhn had 3 aces and 4 kills.
Caroline Reisman chipped in 7 assists and an ace, Callie Patterson furnished 5 aces and a kill, Sadie Roach provided 4 kills, Savannah Brock supplied an ace and solid defense, and Alicia Wylie added 2 kills for the Lady Red Elephants.
GHS will host a playdate on Saturday with Lanier (10am), Providence Christian (11am), North Gwinnett (12:30pm), and Stephens County (1:30pm).
For North Hall in the two matches, after falling to Gainesville the Lady Trojans rebounded with a 25-9, 25-14 victory over Banks County.
Lexie Martin led the way for North Hall with 10 kills, 18 assists, 9 digs, and 10 aces. Sarah Davidson has 6 aces, 8 kills, and 1 block, Mary Hays Williams had 8 kills and 4 blocks, and Karsyn Savage had 5 kills and 3 aces. Gavyn Graber had 7 aces and 2 kills, Sophie Cleveland added 11 digs, Claire Bowen had 6 kills and 3 blocks, Anna Kate Shoaf had 12 digs and 2 kills, and Victoria Cape had 7 assists for the Lady Trojans.
North Hall next will play in the Kickoff Klassic on Saturday.
West Hall sweeps tri-match against East Hall, Hart County
Kaleigh McFarland and Chloe Radich led the West Hall volleyball team past Hart County and East Hall to sweep the tri-match on the road Thursday.
The Spartans edged Hart in both sets, 25-23 and 25-22, while easily taking down the Vikings, 25-12 and 25-10. McFarland led West Hall (3-1) with 10 kills and 15 digs, and Chloe Radich had 15 assists and four aces.
Cherokee Bluff 2, Lanier 0; Cherokee Bluff 2, North Oconee 0 -- The Bears opened the day at Lanier with a 25-23 win over the Longhorns in the first set followed by a decisive 25-16 triumph to sweep the match. It was much of the same in the second match against North Oconee, beating the Titans 25-14 and 25-15. Tristan Boling led the Bears with 15 digs and 20 assists, and Grace Blythe totaled nine kills, two aces, two blocks, one dig and one assist.
Johnson drops pair at home
The Lady Knights dropped a pair of matches to Dawson County and Duluth Thursday night
Johnson fought Dawson tough losing 25-17; 26-24. Caroline Odell had 3 assists, Kali Lyons had 5 kills and 2 aces, and Tatum Turk had 3 aces for the Lady Knights.
Duluth handled Johnson 25-16; 25-12 as Alexa Berry had 1 ace, 1 kill, and 1 bloc, and Tatum had 2 kills and 1 block for Johnson.
