Softball: Branch opens with big region win; Chestatee opens strong; Lady Panthers stay unbeaten

FLOWERY BRANCH — The Flowery Branch girls softball team opened its season, and new Region 8-4A schedule, with a dominating 15-0 victory over Cedar Shoals Tuesday at the Hog Mountain Sports Complex.

The Lady Falcons (1-0, 1-0 Region 8-4A) pounded out 10 hits, led by Aubrey Bourrie , who had two hits and 2 RBIs for the game. Zoe Johnston-Hadaway and Savanna Rutledge each had two hits and one RBI for Flowery Branch.

Nikki Harris earned the win in the circle giving up just one hit and striking out 9 in three innings.

The Lady Falcons next will travel to Chestatee on Thursday for another Region 8-4A matchup.

EAST JACKSON 4

Jackson County got a game-winning home run fromWhitney Hulsey to lead the Lady Panthers to a thrilling win over their cross-county rivals Tuesday.
 
Th game was tied 2-2 after two innings and Jackson County (2-0) took a 4-3 lead into the seventh. The Lady Eagles (0-2) tied in the top of the seventh t set the dramatic finish.

CHEESTATEE 17,
WEST HALL 2

The Lady War Eagles opened their season with a dominating win at home Tuesday.

Chestatee scored 14 runs in the opening frame and for the game took advantage of 12 West Hall walks and one error.

Chestatee (1-0) next will travel to East Hall on Friday.

West Hall (0-1) travels to Towns County on Friday.
